Oh what a (tribute) night!!
As the Four Seasons once sang, oh what a night was had at The Glad Cafe last Thursday.
The band, fronted by Robin Adams performed a stunning set that Chris would have been proud of.
Robin, along with regulars Andy Allan on bass, Dick Drake on drums and George Tucker on guitar traditionally opened up the night with Let Me Down followed by Someone Else’s City and Idol before original member of the band, John Mannion entertained us with a few numbers and stories highlighting the beginning of the band. Linda Jackson gave a fabulous rendition of The White Rose which is featured in the hopefully soon to be performed musical play “Bloody Prince Charlie” by Chris & Chester Studzinski.
String Driven Thing, augmented by Mervyn Adams on guitar, returned to the stage to give us Hey Jack, Love & War, Travelling & Another Country before welcoming Graham Smith to join the band and add his amazing violin virtuosity to the proceedings. Pauline joined in with her tambourine for unbelievable versions of Easy To Be Free, Circus, My Real Hero & Sold Down The River.
The only way to follow that was by showing a video of the band with Chris in fine voice, Fans & friends from far and wide shared a few memories, a few tears and a unified feeling that although Chris may be gone, his music lives on.
Thanks to everyone who attended.
